How to get that perfect pout?
The skin on our lips (in the redder area) is much thinner than the skin on the other parts of our body (in that redder part of the lips, the skin is made up of three to five cellular layers, compared to the skin on the rest of the face which is typically arranged in 16 cellular layers).
Because of this thinness, they quickly get dehydrated, cracked and chapped – a condition that even the most glamorous lipstick will not help.
Why is this happening, and what is the solution?
The red part of our lips does not have hair follicles and oil glands, and no ability to create the sun-filtering natural melanin. Therefore, the lips do not have the protection offered by sweat and body oil. This is why they dry out faster and can become chapped.
